Distinguish private property from public space
A driveway placement and a container in the street can have different requirements. Local rules vary by jurisdiction and may change. Contact the appropriate city or county office about street, sidewalk, alley, or other right-of-way placement rather than assuming no permit is needed.
Ask your property manager or association
HOAs, landlords, and commercial managers may regulate placement, duration, appearance, and access. Get approval before delivery when required. A city authorization does not automatically override a private community rule, and a community approval does not replace a public permit.
Preserve required access
Avoid blocking sidewalks, accessible routes, fire access, hydrants, drains, or neighboring driveways. Marking a spot is not a substitute for checking whether it is allowed. Share any special conditions with the rental team before scheduling.
Keep approvals and dates together
Retain copies of authorizations and note any expiration dates. Make sure the rental window, pickup plan, and approval period align. If the project needs more time, resolve both the rental extension and any applicable permission before leaving the container in place.
